This month’s newsletter is a bit delayed because I’ve been hard at work trying to get my most recent print finished and listed in my shop! Over the past month, I’ve been creating a reduction print – a process that is both fun and time consuming!

A single linoleum block is hand carved, inked, a layer of color is printed, and then the process is repeated using the same block for each color of the print. Since each layer of the print is carved away after printing, there’s no going back and the print cannot be made again. I find it very exciting to see the print come together over a few weeks and it’s always a relief when it turns out how I’d hoped!

This new piece is the 5th print to join my Georgetown collection and features Sweet Lemon Kitchen, an adorable cafe just off the square in downtown Georgetown. This local spot is always busy and has one of the best outdoor areas in town with its colorful umbrellas and hospitable picnic tables. In the photos below, you can see 3 of the 5 layers of this print. The layers were printed in this order: light gray, yellow, light green, ombre teal, and dark gray.

The garden blackberries have been one of the highlights of the past month for me! We have harvested an estimated 55 pounds and have been able to share the berries with 27 families so far! One of my dreams when planting my garden and berry patch was to have something I could share with friends and neighbors each year. It’s a wonderful way to build community!
