Greetings Friends!

Recent Happenings

A huge thank you to all of our friends, family, and customers who came by to support us at our family market last Saturday! The kids love getting to make and sell things “just like mom” and I am grateful for the opportunity to teach them the value of working with your hands, being creative, starting a savings account, and more!

Last week’s gelli plate printing class was a fun time of exploring printmaking with new textures, stencils and cool techniques! My students were so kind and creative and they made some really beautiful prints!

Red Poppies Edition

Speaking of red poppies…

(story time)

During last year’s 25th Annual Red Poppy Festival, my artwork was featured on town banners, posters, and even  in a spectacular light show cast onto the walls of the courthouse on the Georgetown square. It was such a surreal and exciting moment! My original print titled “Valiant” was selected as the winning piece in a contest for artwork to be featured at the event. For the contest, I made a six layer linocut print using the reduction method. A reduction print is created by carving and printing one block multiple times to produce multiple layers of color. After printing one color the artist carves away more material from the block and “reduces” the printing area before printing the next color. It’s a complicated process and it took me a month to create a small edition of 20 original prints, but it was a fantastic experience and well worth it!

I have just a few originals left – contact me if you are interested in owning one!

After winning the contest, I designed my first ever stickers and postcards. I also had t-shirts specially made with my print design for the festival.

Sadly, I won’t be selling at Poppy Fest this year, but I’ve listed everything for you on my website so you can go in style! Send a postcard and invite a friend, snag a t-shirt to wear to the festival, or a sticker to customize your water bottle!

T-shirts are very limited in quantity, so hurry if you want one!

You may be starting to wonder “what happened to all the engraving you used to do?”

Not to worry! I’m still engraving personalized gifts, kitchen goods & custom orders! Here is the most recent addition to the shop! The perfect housewarming gift for first time homeowners!

Thanks for reading!

Emily
