Description

The Williamson County courthouse sits in the heart of our historic town square here in Georgetown, Texas. Each year, it is the centerpiece for our Red Poppy Festival, Christmas Stroll, and Market Days. If you visit, you’ll see residents and tourists enjoying picnics on the lawn, kids running up and down the stairs, and you’ll likely feel compelled to take a selfie with the impressive dome in the background. I really enjoyed creating this piece and I hope it reminds the viewers of their best days spent on the square in Georgetown.

This piece was created completely by my own two hands. Once carved, the linoleum block was inked with black oil-based printmaking ink and pressed by hand onto acid-free white paper.

SIZE: Paper size is 11×14”. The image measures 9×12”.

Each handmade print has the title and artist signature written in pencil below the image.

The artwork will be shipped in a cellophane bag with extra cardboard and in a rigid envelope to keep the print from bending in transit.

As an artist and resident of Georgetown, I really enjoy creating pieces that connect the viewer to this place I call home. This print is part of a larger collection of original linocut prints I am creating featuring Georgetown locations. The collection currently includes The Courthouse, 600 Degrees Pizza, the Palace Theatre, San Gabriel Bridge, Sweet Lemon Kitchen, Monument Cafe, & 309 Coffee. As an artist, I feel inspired by the small businesses and restaurants in Georgetown that make our town such a special place. I started this collection as a way to highlight some of my favorite spots in Georgetown and the beautiful, historic buildings on the square. As AI images and digital art are on the rise, I’m feeling drawn to the old, traditional, and more time consuming ways of creating art by hand. Printmaking is a slow, careful process. I don’t have a press, so every bit of each print is made completely by hand. The locations in the collection are everyday places of work, play, celebration, creativity, and memory for those of us who live our lives in Georgetown. It seems fitting to honor them with this type of unhurried creation.
