It’s Market Season!

Small business life is a bit of a roller coaster sometimes! Sales can be slow for months and then all of a sudden you’re so busy you have to turn down opportunities! I always try my best to be prepared for this time of year, but it’s a challenge! Two weeks ago the only holiday market on my schedule was the sale I do with my kids every year on our driveway. Then I started getting asked to come to various markets and suddenly I had potential markets 5 weekends in a row! So far, I’ve committed to just 2 in addition to our family market, but I’ll keep you updated if I add more!

My booth is between Sweet Lemon Kitchen and Grace Heritage Center. I’ll have lots of original work! Prints, postcards, stickers, notebooks, block printed clothing and more! It’s also my birthday on Saturday and I would love it if you invite a friend and visit my booth 🙂

Say hello to my new distractions friends!

Last week we had three additions to our backyard (which I can’t seem to help but turn into a micro-farm). A neighbor knocked on our door and asked if we could take 2 female ducks. They’re a couple of months old and I’m absolutely obsessed with them. They are so peaceful – I could sit and watch them play in the water for hours. It’s taking all of my self-control to keep myself from abandoning all of my market prep to build them a cute little pond. We’ll see if I can have the patience to wait until things slow down after the new year. So far, we have learned that their favorite foods are peas and watermelon, but they are very disappointed when you feed them corn and they thought they were getting peas.

We are also babysitting a piglet from my dad’s farm until she gets a little bigger and can join her 100lb+ friends. She does not like watermelon or peas at all, so the ducks are happy they don’t have to share. She loves exploring the yard and pushing things around with her snout. Her hooves make it look like she’s wearing tiny high heels, but other than that she’s not very lady-like. She has drawn a lot of interest from the neighbors who are (surprisingly) sad to hear that she’s not a permanent resident!

One Last Workshop!

Only one workshop left for this semester – don’t miss out!

November 15th | Mini Stamps & Mini Notebooks
Join me for a relaxed class full of creativity and miniatures! We will be working on a smaller scale in this class, giving each student enough time to carve several mini stamps and print 3-4 small notebooks (3”x5”). Carving small stamps is fun and low pressure; no need for perfectionism since you’ll have time to try again! Not only is this an enjoyable project, but the notebooks also make great stocking stuffers and little gifts for friends around the holidays! Register Here!
